Sade - Soldier of love

Sade is back with a new album due out Feb. 8th 2010!! And it's about time. I know this isn't quite an electronic track (well it kinda is) but being a Sade fan I had to share her new single that is just being released. This new track of hers has some interesting sounds and while it captures her classic sound that she's so know for, it also has a more modern feel than most of her past work. Anyways enough of my blabbing, Check it out for yourself!

Kettel

"Kettel is Reimer Eising (born 1982), a self-described “elixir-brewing, camping-loving and musicmaking sorcerer-to-be.” He is well-known for his playful, spontaneous melodies and organic folk sounds similar to Aphex Twin, Jega, and Plaid." -Quoted from Discogs.com.

If you've not heard of Kettel you're in for a real treat. The first example, "Why aren't we talking", is from a split LP called Series #2 - Hydrus / Kettel, with the A side featuring 4 songs from Hydrus and the B side featuring 6 songs from Kettel. The second example is from Kettel's 2005 album of the same name, "Through friendly waters."

This week svankov show's off the Akai APC40 controller for Ableton!

If you haven't heard of the APC40 you must be living under a rock! This thing is blowing up the way "composers" perform. I say "composer" because these guys aren't DJ's nor are they producers. They are on the fly remixers, chopping up, dropping down, editing, looping and glitching out music as they play it. This is Ableton used in one of it's many creative ways it was intended for.
LIVE manipulation and creation of music. Keep an eye out as we will definitely be featuring more in depth videos on how exactly to use this bad boy.

EDM Heaven

EDM Heaven started out as a place for me to store and easily find good intermediate and advanced tutorials I could use for improving my skills and getting new ideas for using my favorite tools, mainly Ableton Live and Serato. But as the cache of tutorials grew and grew I thought well I should share these with the world of other producers and DJ's.

I love finding great youtube tutorials people make but you have to filter out all the crappy ones. That is what's great about this place, I do all the filtering for you.

As time goes on, I may categorize the videos in more detail and also add other tutorials like Logic Pro, Traktor, Native Instruments, etc. depending on what YOU the readers would like. So feel free to comment and let me know what you like and don't like.

Cheers, enjoy and I look forward to seeing what comes of this.
